Attraction sites:

 

Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) situated in the heart of Hanoi, this delightful body of water also lies close to the hearts of the Vietnamese people. It was named basing on the legend of Vietnam history about Le Loi King to fight against the Chinese Ming dynasty. There is a temple right in the middle of that lake to worship turtle and prove for the legend. In the reality, there are some big turtles in Hoan Kiem Lake.

Ngoc Son Temple sits on an islet at the North end of the lake. The oldest structures in the complex dated back to 1225, though most of what you see was either built or reconstructed in the 19th century.

Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature): The temple constitutes a rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture and is well worth a visit. Temple of Literature also was the Vietnam’s first university which was established in 1076 to educate the sons of mandarins.

One Pillar Pagoda is a cultural and historic relic, unique for its architectural features. The pagoda was first built in 1049 under the Ly Dynasty. It is built in the shape of a lotus blooming on its stem.

Quan Thanh Temple formerly known as Tran Vu Temple is a Taoist temple in Hanoi, Vietnam. Dated to the 11th century, the temple was dedicated to Xuan Wu, or Trấn Vũ in Vietnamese, one of the principal deities in Taoism.

The Thang Long Royal Citadel which is recognized by the World Heritage Committee on July 31st, 2010 as a World Cultural Heritage Site. This site is a source of great pride to the people of Ha Noi and Vietnamese people in general.

The Old Quarter: Some of the 36 streets that make up the Ancient Quarter still offer only a single commodity. During different historical, the Old Quarter had a varying number of guilds associated with specific streets.

Traditional art:

 

Water Puppet Show is considered to have originated in the delta of the Red river in Vietnam in the 11th century, and the art remains highly developed today in this country. In ancient Vietnam, the rural Vietnamese believed that spirits controlled all aspect of their lives, from the kitchen to the rice paddies. The Vietnamese devised water puppetry as a way to satisfy these spirits, and as a form of entertainment, using what natural medium they could find in their environment.
